THEMATIC COURSE IN ART
DRAWING AND PAINTING
(Course duration: 1 year. Altogether: 192 study hours).
The age of the students: pre-school children and junior schoolchildren
1. Theoretical introduction into the notion of surrounding world. Colour,
shape, movement, space, time, proportions, smells, emotions, sensations.
Several works on free abstract themes accompanied by the psychological
discussion with the students.
2. The notions of drawing and painting as the means of plane depiction.
Colour study. Characteristics and qualities of colours and shades. Gouache
technique. Work with pallette. Gouache sketches on the theme of seasons.
3. The notion of simple shapes on the plane and in space. Circle, triangle,
square, polygon (on the plane), cube, sphere, pyramid (in space). Pencil
works to develop the hand: sketches of the simple shapes.
4. Water colour technique. The notion of still life, landscape, portrait
as art genres. Still life in water colour technique.
5. Application. Work with glue, scissors and coloured paper. Flora and
fauna in application technique.
6. Collage. Work with glue, scissors and waste paper material (magazines,
newspapers, etc.) Still life in collage technique.
7. Gouache paiting on toned paper. Works on an industrial motif.
8. Flora and fauna. Lecture and discussion. Work on the spot in museums
of flora and fauna.
9. Depiction of man. Portrait. Proportions, plastic anatomy. Dynamics,
the notion of individuality. Lecture and discussion. Lengthy work with
models and short-term sketches in pencil technique. Work on the spot in
museums.
10. The notion of human's character and individuality. Lecture and discussion.
Self-portrait and portraits of close people. The accent is to portrait
similiarity, revealing the mood and the character.
All practical course is supported by the theoretical lecture
accompaniment.
Course duration : 1-3 years
Altogether: 60 - 180 hours of study
The age of the students: senior schoolchildren and adults.
1. Theoretical introduction into the notion of drawing: dot, line, shape,
size, contrast, stroke and its role in art, proportions. Method of visualising.
Short-time works to develop the hand, sense of proportions and space.
2. Theoretical introduction into the notion of simple shapes: sphere,
pyramid, cube. The notion of symmetry and asymmetry in the drawing. Linear
sketches in pencil depicting simple shapes made of plaster.
3. The notion of chiaroscuro. Sketches of simple shapes using shades and
sizes.
4. Functional analysis. Short-term linear and shady sketches of simple
and more complex shapes.
5. The notion of composition in drawing. Theoretical introduction into
the notion of two-shade and black-and-white compostition. Still life.
Pencil sketch.
6. The notion of perspective and air perspective. Practical tasks to establish
the law of perspective - linear short-term sketches. The sketch of a composition
from simple elements using perspective constructions.
7. Study of cole, sanguine and sepia techniques on white paper. Work with
plaster models. Study of cole, sanguine and sepia techniques on toned
paper using white pencil or chalk. Still life.
8. Study of Indian ink pen, marker and paintbrush techniques. Lanscape
on a motif of choice (work with literary material).
9. Technique of gouache and water colour grisaille. Work with plaster
models.
